Baking Competition Already Underway At State Fair

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Minnesota State Fair officially starts Thursday, but many vendors are already on the fairgrounds setting up their stands and a big competition is underway.

Judging for all the baked goods at the "Great Minnesota Get-Together" started over the weekend. The competition features more than 3,000 cookies, cakes, breads and canned goods that had to be on the State Fairgrounds by Sunday in time for judging.

The ribbons for the tastiest treats will be handed out in dozens of categories. Those winners will be put on display in the creative activities building when the fair opens on Thursday morning.
