Lightning Strikes Twice For Man With Scratch-Off Lottery Tickets

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Talk about luck. Mike Mendyk of Minnesota City, which is near Winona, just won his second scratch-off prize worth $100,000.

So what's his secret? Even his wife doesn't know. Becky Mendyk said it may be Mike's casual attitude toward lottery tickets.

"He just brings them home and lets them sit there for a while. I don't know if he lets them marinate or what," Becky said chuckling.

Or maybe it's Mike's 'lucky scratcher:' He's used the same silver envelope opener for both tickets. In any case, friends are hoping some of his luck will rub off on them.

Becky says Mike has had requests such as "come and rub my head" and "shake my hand."
