Four Months Later, Portland Ave. Bridge Re-Opens On Friday

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- After four months of construction, the Portland Avenue Bridge, spanning I-94 and I-35W, is set to re-open at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23.

Portland Avenue between East 16th Street and East 17th Street will re-open. The direction of traffic on Portland Avenue between East 18th Street and East 19th Street will revert to the pre-construction direction.

The Portland Avenue Bridge reconstruction is part of a $5.7 million bridge preservation project. It includes new bridge decks, approaches, beams and bridge rails, and upgraded pedestrian crossings.

Drivers should expect delays and detours on Park Avenue as crews continue to reconstruct the Park Avenue Bridge, which is expected to open in mid-September.
