MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minnesota's favorite football player is experimenting with putting chocolate milk on his Wheaties and even admits he ratchets up his legendary debilitating handshake for reporters in particular.

The Vikings star running back opened up in an Ask Me Anything forum Tuesday on reddit.com, the user-generated social news and entertainment website.

Here are the highlights:

"No one really got a good shot on me this year," he said about the 2012 season in which he rushed for a near-record 2,097 yards. But he then added, "Shaun Rodgers."

He called Eddie Lacy, the former Alabama running back and current Green Bay Packer, this year's best rookie RB prospect: "That was a real good pickup," he said. "That I didn't like."

His metacarpal-crushing handshake's apparently reserved especially for the media.

"I actually do put a little more into it for some of the reporters," he said. "They're like Sour Patch Kids! Guys can be so nice and so sour sometimes."

Though no one has ever repeated a 2,000-yard season with yet another 2,000-yard performance, Peterson's aiming to make history.

"I feel like I'll be able to repeat," he said. "Why? Just a group of guys in front of me dedicated to running the ball. We're definitely a team. We feel like we wanna do better next year and I just have faith I can do it."

And among his peers, he admires a handful.

"All-around guy, productive, I'd have to go with Arian Foster and Marshawn Lynch," he said. "Talent-wise, Chris Johnson and my guy Frank Gore."

Does he really eat Wheaties for breakfast?

"Yes I do!" he said. "With bananas. And I'm trying new muddy Wheaties with chocolate milk. It's scrumptious."
