MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 20-year-old Michigan man faces numerous criminal sexual conduct charges for allegedly having sex and sexual contact with a 15-year-old Minnesota girl.

Zachary Johnson faces two charges of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, one charge of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct and one charge of solicitation of a child to engage in sexual conduct, which are all felonies.

According to the criminal complaint, Rosemount Police received a report of a criminal sexual conduct incident involving a 15-year-old girl and a 20-year-old man. The victim was discovered when she overdosed on medication. While in the hospital, the mother found explicit text messages from a 20-year-old man.

The victim told police that Johnson had been communicating with her via social media and text messages since February 2012. Johnson allegedly knew that the victim was 14 years old when they started communication.

The complaint said on Aug. 16, 2013, Johnson traveled to Minnesota with friends and arranged to meet with the victim.

Between Aug. 16 and Aug. 21, Johnson allegedly had sexual conduct with the victim. The victim said on one of the three occasions, they had sexual intercourse at a property in Rosemount, Minn.

A condom and open wrapper was located and placed into evidence, according to the complaint.

If convicted of his charges, Johnson could face up to 15 years for each third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge, 10 years for the fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct charge and 3 years for the solicitation of a child charge.
