Condon, Rau Named Gopher Hockey Captains

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Two of the steadiest players returning to play for the University of Minnesota men's hockey program have been named captains for the upcoming season, coach Don Lucia announced on Monday.

Nate Condon, a senior forward , and Kyle Rau, a junior forward, were selected as the team's captains for the 2013-14 season. Condon and Rau are two of the team's most talented returning players from a roster that had five players depart for professional hockey after last season.

Condon has played in 118 career games and collected 78 points, including 31 goals, in three seasons. He had a career-best 31 points, including 12 goals, last season. He's a draft choice of the Colorado Avalanche.

In 40 games last season, Rau recorded 40 points, including 15 goals. He has 83 points, including 33 goals, in 80 career games entering his junior season. He was drafted by the Florida Panthers.
