Albert Lea Man Arrested After Reportedly Holding Hostage In His Home

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An Albert Lea man is being held at an adult detention center after he reportedly held a person hostage at his home Friday evening following a dispute.

Sgt. Tim Harves of the Albert Lea Police Department said officers went to the man's home on the 1100 block of East Richway Drive just after 6:15 p.m. A caller had told authorities that a domestic dispute took place, and that a man with a gun was holding a hostage inside the home.

Officers were told the armed man was 30-year-old Jesse Samuel Garcia, who lives at the home.

When officers arrived at the home, they spotted Garcia in the backyard. Garcia then walked away to a nearby park, Harves says, and officers followed.

When they detained Garcia, officers found a firearm in his waistband. They then arrested him.

Garcia is being held on firearms possession charges, terroristic threats and domestic assault. He is currently being held in the Freeborn County Adult Detention Center, pending formal charges.
