MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The reconstruction of a fatal crash involving a motorcycle and a police SUV earlier this year in south Minneapolis is complete, the State Patrol announced Monday.

The crash happened on May 10 at the intersection of 26th Street and Blaisdell Avenue South. Ivan Romero, 24, died in the collision, and his girlfriend, Joselin Torrejon, suffered injuries.

Officer Joshua Young was driving the SUV at the time of the crash. Sources initially told WCCO-TV that the SUV sped through a red light on its way to an officer-involved shooting just blocks away. But days after the crash, police said the SUV was travelling at a rate considerably under the speed limit with its sirens and lights on.

Officials did not release details of the crash Monday.

The State Patrol said the case was presented to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office for review, which is standard procedure.
