MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 42-year-old man pleaded guilty to killing a man with a knife back on Jan. 6., in Minneapolis' first homicide case of 2013.

Mauricio Antonio Orochera pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Thursday, and will be sentenced on Oct. 7.

According to the criminal complaint, police arrived at the 2900 block of Russell Avenue North at 3:25 a.m. on Jan. 6 and found an unresponsive man inside the home. Ever Gonzalez Canales, 35, had died after being stabbed in the chest.

A witness, the home owner, had seen the two men fighting earlier. The witness added that he then went into the kitchen where he saw Orochera armed with a knife, according to the complaint.
