MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 37-year-old Cloquet, Minn. man has been killed in an ATV accident in St. Louis County, according to the county’s sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s department says the accident occurred at 3:20 p.m. Saturday between Aurora and Hoyt Lakes near the Ranger Off Road Trail.

A large group of ATVs were traveling on the trail north of Aurora Gun Club. The victim, identified as Ryan Ewald, was driving the lead ATV with his wife, 30-year-old Amy Ewald, as the back passenger.

Ryan was attempting to climb a steep, slippery hill, when he and his wife fell off the ATV. The ATV then rolled and struck Ryan in the head. CPR was administered and he was taken to Northern Pines Hospital in Aurora where he died from his injuries.

Amy was not injured.

The accident is being investigated.
