MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – This is the weekend many have been working toward for months. It’s time for the Twin Cities Marathon. But if running isn’t your thing, there are other events including an art crawl and chance to meet celebrity skiier Lindsay Vonn. Here are this weekend’s best entertainment bets around town.

Twin Cities Marathon
The Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon weekend kicks off Friday with three days of activities for people of all ages, interests and running paces. More than 28,000 runners and 300,000 spectators are expected to be in the Twin Cities for these events, starting with a Health and Fitness Expo at the Xcel Energy Center on Friday and Saturday. Also Saturday at the Capitol there will be a family activity tent including a “diaper dash” and the “toddler trot.” After a brief worship service at 6:45 Sunday morning at the First Covenant Church in Minneapolis, the 26.2-mile run will begin. Post-race food, refreshments and giveaways will be available at the finish line.

Lindsey Vonn at Afton Alps
Minnesota-born Lindsey Vonn, one of the most decorated ski racers in American history, is returning home to Afton Alps Ski Area. She will be there Friday night greeting fans and aspiring ski racers. Her visit comes during Afton’s annual Fall Fair and Swap, Minnesota’s unofficial kick-off to the ski season. This free event includes family fun includes hay rides, chairlift rides and a ski and snowboard swap.

St. Paul Art Crawl
Twenty-four studios and galleries in the Lowertown District and throughout St. Paul will be open to tour during the St. Paul Art Crawl. View the artwork of more than three-hundred St. Paul artists. And, for the first time, the Art Crawl will have food trucks. And don’t miss the Kickoff Party, Friday evening, at the Minnesota Museum of American Art, complete with live music, great food and refreshments.
