Excellent Educator: Dayton Elementary's Lynette Daniel

CHAMPLIN PARK, Minn. (WCCO) -- This morning the WCCO Morning Show's Edward Moody helped honor another excellent educator in the metro who has gone above and beyond to make a difference in student's lives.

Lynette Daniel has been inspiring kids with art for 28 years. As an art teacher at Dayton Elementary School, Daniel helps students understand themselves and the world around them through art.

"Lynette Daniel is an exceptional educator," said Principal Joan Iserman. "Everybody who knows her and has had experiences with her in the schools would recognize that.

Daniel was nominated by a former student who said, when he was having a tough time getting prepared for the transition to middle school, Daniel gave him some advice that helped him get ready, and as it turned out changed his life.

Daniel says she struggled in school as a child, and has made it her mission to help her students through their struggles.

"I think I had kind of a hard time in school, so I just want (my students) to feel comfortable," Daniel explained. "I think when they feel comfortable that's when they're successful."

You can nominate a deserving educator by going to the WCCO Morning Show's Facebook page, telling us their name and why they should be WCCO's Excellent Educator of the week.
