MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities are on the scene of an apparent fatal crash that has closed Highway 212 in Eden Prairie.

Authorities said the crash, which was a head-on collision involving three vehicles and three people, happened just after 8:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes Highway 212 near Eden Prairie Road. The Minnesota Department of Transportation said at least one person is dead and another is seriously injured. The eastbound lanes are shut down until further notice, causing the westbound lanes to be clogged up as traffic is diverted.

According to Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol, 62-year-old Robert Bartee crossed a median and drove into oncoming traffic, hitting 26-year-old Joseph Tupman head-on. Bartee was killed in the crash, and Tupman was seriously injured and transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

There was a third vehicle involved in the crash with a 73-year-old driver from Carver. She was not injured.
