Walking Theater To Showcase Granite Falls Main St.

GRANITE FALLS, Minn. (AP) -- Actors and musicians will present a walking theater production in downtown Granite Falls on Friday night.

The production will highlight the history of Granite Falls' Main Street and the western Minnesota town's "Saturday Nights" of the 1940s and `50s.

The one-hour production will transform Main Street into a multi-stage theater featuring vintage marquees, classic cars and photographs from the era.

"Granite Falls: Saturday Nights!" starts at 7 p.m. and ends with live `40s and `50s music from the 21-piece big band, The Echos.

The show is free. Audience members are encouraged to dress in clothing from the period.

The performance kicks off the 2013 Arts Meander, a free self-guided tour of artist studios featuring 45 local artists from the Upper Minnesota River Valley.
