Gopher Basketball To Host Open Scrimmage Oct. 18

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Fans hoping to get their first look at the Gopher men's basketball team under first-year coach Richard Pitino can do so on Oct. 18.

The University of Minnesota men's basketball team will host an open scrimmage at Williams Arena at 7 p.m. that day. It's billed as the first official public showing of the Gophers, called "Raise The Barn – First Look Scrimmage" and is being held instead of midnight madness. University officials said it will be an actual game and the doors at Williams Arena will open at 6 p.m.

The Maroon and Gold rosters for the game will be announced at a later date. The Gophers will have exhibition games against Cardinal-Stritch Nov. 1 and Concordia-St. Paul Nov. 4 before their season opener against Lehigh on Friday, Nov. 8.

The Gophers will also face Montana, Richmond, Coastal Carolina and Wofford before facing Syracuse in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.
