MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- The 9-year-old north Minneapolis boy who had eluded security and somehow got to Las Vegas via a Delta Air Lines flight earlier this month is finally back in the Twin Cities, according to a source.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Department and airport police greeted him for his arrival back to Minnesota on Saturday.

The father of the child said the child has a history of behavioral issues, admitting the boy is "no angel."

Police said the 9-year-old had stolen a 30-foot refrigerator truck back on Oct. 1 and drove it for miles before crashing it into multiple cars and a squad car in Edina.

Officials in Minnesota had filed a petition Friday, hoping to intervene in the life of a 9-year-old boy. In the petition, Hennepin County Human Services and the Public Health Department said the boy needs protection or services because he's a runaway and committed a delinquent act before age 10.

There'll now be a hearing to assess whether he needs protection.
