‘Free Bikes for Kidz’ Holds Several Metro Collection Events

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A huge effort to collect used bikes for kids in need took place throughout the metro Saturday.

Free Bikes for Kidz held its collection event at various locations, including Allina clinics.

All of the bikes will be cleaned, refurbished and given to local kids right before the holidays.

C.J. Lunning spent her summer collecting bikes at garage sales. She donated more than a hundred gently used bikes to the event.

“I figured I could spend, you know, a couple hundred dollars and buy a couple new bikes, or I could spend five, ten dollars each time and get a lot more and impact more kids,” Lunning said.
