STILLWATER, Minn. (WCCO) — A whopping gourd broke a state record at the Stillwater Harvest Fest Saturday.

The record-setting pumpkin weighed in at 1,779 pounds, and was grown by Joe Werner of Richville.

Werner said he’s pretty proud, especially since it beat the past state record by 149 pounds.

Besides the contest, festival goers could paddle the river in a monster-sized pumpkin, as well as enjoy delicious chili and apple pie.

The Stillwater Harvest Fest continues Sunday.
