Arrest Made, 86-Year-Old's Death Ruled Homicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has released the identity of a man found dead in an apartment last Tuesday in the 1200 block of 8th Street South.

Eighty-six-year-old Jama Adan Mohamed, of Minneapolis, died from multiple craniocerebral injuries, according to the medical examiner. His death has been ruled a homicide.

On Sunday morning, around 7:20 a.m., homicide investigators arrested Bashir Yusuf Jama, 63, of Minneapolis, in connection to the Mohamed's death.

The Minneapolis Police Department responded to a 911 call around 5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the apartment building. Upon arrival, officers found a man who was deceased.

Jama is in custody at the Hennepin County Jail. The case will now be presented to the Hennepin County Attorney's Office for consideration of charges.
