Police: Bicyclist, 13, Dies In Isanti Co. Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 13-year-old boy died Thursday afternoon in central Minnesota after a car, driven by a fellow teenager, struck him as he rode his bike, authorities say.

The Isanti County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened minutes before 3 p.m. just west of Cambridge Township. The car and the bicyclist collided near the intersection of 329th Avenue and Airport Way.

The car, driven by a 16-year-old area student, was traveling westbound on 329th Avenue. The 13-year-old, who was also a student, was travelling south.

The driver was not arrested, authorities say.

The names of those involved will be released Friday. The school has been notified of the incident, which is still under investigation.

Cambridge Township is about 50 miles north of the Twin Cities.
