MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – One person was killed and as many as four others were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday night near Hudson, Wis., according to the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 4:06 p.m. Saturday on Old State Highway 35 at the intersection of Tower Road near Hudson. When they arrived, a minivan was heading northbound on Old State Highway 35 when it hit a Mazda Protege on the driver’s side that was heading westbound on Tower Road.

The St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of the Mazda, identified as 38-year-old Scott Shoemaker of Black River Falls, Wis., had failed to stop at a stop sign and traveled into the path of the minivan. He was killed in the crash. The driver of the minivan, a 42-year-old man from Hudson, Wis., suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said Shoemaker had three children, ages 12, 14 and 16, in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They all suffered serious injuries. The 16 and 12-year-olds, both girls, are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

The Wisconsin State Patrol said the crash is still under investigation.
