MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A 34-year-old man is dead after the crane he was operating tipped on its side.

Maplewood Police and Fire responded to an emergency call around 12:01 p.m. Monday at the St. Paul Hmong Alliance Church, located at 1770 McMenemy St.

The call stated the operator of the crane was injured after the crane tipped on its side.

Emergency responders provided medical care to the crane operator, as they worked to free him from the crane’s cab. Once he was free, he was transported to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he later died.

The victim is identified as Cory Lewellin, of Ogilvie, Minn.

Police say the crane is owned by Truck Crane Service in Eagan.

The Minnesota Department of Occupational Safety and Health Division responded to the scene to investigate the incident.

The cause of the accident is unknown at this time.
