EAGAN, Minn. (WCCO) – A 58-year-old man has died after his minivan went off the road and into a pond in Eagan Friday morning.

According to police, a witness saw a minivan leave the roadway at Lexington Avenue and Clubview Drive at 7:33 a.m.

The minivan, driven by Thomas Heinz Iwen of St. Paul, went down a 10-foot retaining wall and crashed upside down into a collection pond.

Iwen was extricated from his vehicle by Eagan firefighters. He was taken by ambulance to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, where he later died.

He was the only passenger in the minivan.
