New Minn. Play Features Veterans, Active Military

FORT SNELLING, Minn. (AP) -- A new play based on personal stories of military veterans of all conflicts and all sides will be performed next month at Fort Snelling.

"The Veterans Play Project" previews Nov. 14 and runs Nov. 15-24 at Fort Snelling's Base Camp.

The play was inspired by stories gathered from more than 100 Minnesota military veterans. It tells the story of veterans and civilians living in the fictional small Midwest town of Smedley, deciding how to honor the memory of those who served from their community.

A cast of 20 actors and musicians, including 13 veterans and active military personnel, will perform the play.

Director Leah Cooper of the Footprints Collective teamed up with artistic director Jack Reuler of Mixed Blood Theatre to come up with the collaborative creation.
