MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Friday looms, and as you get ready for the weekend, we want to help you get ready, too. From hunting deer to cooking chili, here are some events worth adding to your social calendar that are perfect for the season.

Midtown Global Market Chili Cook-Off
Get ready … get set … cook! The annual Midtown Global Market Chili Cook-Off happens this Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. Be ready to try some unique flavors from around the world and cast a vote for your favorite.

Governor’s Deer Opener
The weekend has finally come for hunters. Grab your hunting buddies and head up “nort” for the 11th annual Governor’s Deer Hunting Opener in Fergus Falls. Gov. Mark Dayton will host activities like trap- and trick-shooting in the community for folks of all ages.

Veterans Day
Sunday is Veterans Day, and many will observe it Monday. Organizations around the Twin Cities will honor military Veterans with parades, services and remembrances and celebrations. White Bear Lake will have a service with bagpipes, a three-rifle volley and retired Navy SEAL as a guest speaker. That happens Sunday at 2 p.m.
