Fatal Truck-SUV Crash In Wis.

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that took the life of a 63-year-old man in western Wisconsin Friday.

On Friday at 2:12 p.m., the Polk County Sheriff's Office received information of a pickup truck versus an SUV on Highway 35 at the intersection of 140th Avenue in St. Croix Falls Township.

The Sheriff's Office says an investigation determined that Lane Burke of Centuria, Wis. was driving his 2012 Ford Escape eastbound on 150th. As the Ford Escape entered onto Highway 35, a southbound Ford F-350 pickup truck operated by Cody Gilbertson, 28, of Dresser, Wis. entered the intersection and the vehicles collided.

Witnesses said that Burke's vehicle failed to stop at the stop sign on 140th Avenue at Highway 35.

The F-350's front end and the Escape's driver's side door were heavily damaged.

Burke was taken to the St. Croix Medical Center where he died of his injuries. Gilbertson suffered possible leg injuries, but did not seek immediate medical assistance.
