1 Dead, 1 Hurt In West St. Paul Rollover Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said at least one person is dead after a rollover crash in West St. Paul early Thursday morning.

Police were called to the 300 block of Bernard Street in West St. Paul at about 2:27 a.m. on a report of a crash in front of a house. When authorities arrived, a car had rolled over, did one complete rotation, ended up on back on its wheels and eventually left the scene.

The vehicle then hit a fence and a garbage can in front of a home, police said. Authorities say 21-year-old Robert Joseph Espinoza-Blaeser was ejected from the car when it rolled. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 17-year-old male was taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities said they followed a trail of fluid from a car about two blocks away to the 400 block of Roller Street, where a vehicle was found in a driveway. Police had the car towed to a garage for processing. Authorities said a second person was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

Police said multiple people were in the car at the time of the crash, but didn't say how many. Authorities said the crash is still under investigation.
