MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — A cyclist is in the hospital with “substantial injuries” after being hit by a car in St. Cloud Thursday afternoon, according to St. Cloud Police.

Police say the incident occurred at 3:43 p.m. near 8th Street North and 9th Avenue North.

The victim was riding a bike and was attempting to travel northbound across 8th Street when he or she was struck by a motor vehicle. The victim was then taken to the St. Cloud Hospital ER for treatment of substantial injuries.

Now, 8th Street from 9th Avenue to 11th Avenue is currently shut down for all westbound traffic.

The driver of the vehicle was also taken to the emergency room for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
