J.M. Cremps: Local Business Where Boys Can Be Boys

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- All this week at WCCO-TV, we're highlighting small businesses here in Minnesota.

For Tuesday, we're highlighting a new store at the Mall of America where boys can be boys. J.M. Cremps already has a store west of the Twin Cities in Dassel, but the owners have opened a new store at the Mall of America in Bloomington.

Owner Jay Asplin said it started as an online store, but they've expanded. It's everything boys and men might be interested in from hunting apparel to books, military gear and even a shooting range. Asplin and his wife have five boys, and said his idea was inspired by the fact that there aren't stores out there specifically catered to boys.

He is aiming to re-create the traditional boyhood experience that he had as a child through a retail outlet. Asplin was able to open the Mall of America location just in time for the holiday shopping season.

"The boys come here to play, and the dads and the grandpas come here to reminisce," Asplin said.

J.M. Cremps celebrated its grand opening weekend and is hoping for big sales as our holiday shopping season approaches.
