Pominville A Key Part Of Wild's Success

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Wild is in Montreal Tuesday evening and on a roll. One big reason for that is forward Jason Pominville.

The team is winning and that's what Jason Pominville prefers to talk about: The team over himself.

"We're confident right now and we're finding ways to win in different ways. (We're) slowly creeping up in the standings," Pominville said.

Pominville was traded for last season and suffered an injury. This season, he started with the team, got a new contract and a new comfort zone.

Now, he's provided two things for this team: Timely offense and the ability to lead by example. Through it, there's a momentum.

"There's this momentum you carry from game to game when things are going well," head coach Mike Yeo said. "He's a prime example of that."

He's a veteran who knows where to fit in.

"I think it's just showing up every night or every day and having a smile on your face," Pominville said. "Be vocal on the bench. When you have something to say in the room, don't be shy to say it."

It's working and, most importantly, Pominville knows stay successful.

"He's been a good example of it. He's respected it. He's worked, done everything right to make sure that he's maintained it. Because it's a valuable thing and when you have it, you want to keep it," Yeo said.
