CHANHASSEN, Minn. (WCCO) – A couple escaped from a house fire in in Carver County Wednesday morning, but their two pets were killed in the blaze.

Firefighters were called to 4000 Leslee Curve near Chanhassen just before 5 a.m.

Crews were able to extinguish the flames, but not before the home was completely gutted.

Two mattresses were seen in the driveway.

The couple were not identified, and crews didn’t say what kind of pets were victims of the fire.

It was not immediately clear how the fire started.
