Excellent Educator: Greenwood Elementary's Yvonne Lachmiller

PLYMOUTH, Minn. (WCCO) – This morning, the WCCO Morning Show is honoring another excellent educator in the metro who has gone above and beyond to make a difference in students' lives.

Remember that teacher you couldn't wait to see each morning -- the one who gave you that perfect hug to start the day? This week's Excellent Educator is that teacher for third graders at Greenwood Elementary School.

Parent Preston Dodds wrote WCCO, saying Yvonne Lachmiller's love, concern and support helped his son and many other students flourish in school and out.

"It's the best job in the world," Lachmiller said. "I get to see people that are eager to learn and to work and to love, and just be children."

"It's all heart with her," principal Brad Gustafson said. "She has a passion for teaching, but the relationships are the underpinnings of everything that she does."

Gustafson said that Lachmiller loves her students so much that at the end of the school year, when the teachers are getting ready to send students off for summer vacation, she cries because she knows how much she'll miss them.

You can nominate a deserving educator by going to the WCCO Morning Show's Facebook page, telling us their name and why they should be WCCO's Excellent Educator of the week.
