MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It’s a very happy birthday on Wednesday for the weather team at WCCO-TV.

What started as an idea one year ago turned into a network where our meteorologists get daily updates from our own viewers who have a passion for weather. It’s crucial in a state where we can have severe storms and blizzards to go along with our beautiful days throughout the year.

The WCCO Weather Watcher Network was launched on Nov. 27, 2012. A year into the project, the Weather Watcher Network has more than 900 dedicated members who have provided about 43,000 weather reports.

This idea has proven to be a pivotal tool for our weather team of Mike Augustyniak, Chris Shaffer, Lauren Casey and Matt Brickman as we provide daily updates and forecasts. If you would like to be a part of the Weather Watcher Network, head to wcco.com/weatherwatcher.
