Richfield Police Investigating Man's Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Richfield Police are investigating after a 48-year-old man died at a home on the 7300 block of 12th Avenue.

According to authorities, officers responded to a 911 call at the address around 4:53 a.m. Sunday, after the caller stated an assault was in progress.

Officers entered the home and found the victim, who sustained multiple puncture wounds. Police administered first aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His identity is not being released at this time.

Police say two people were transported to the Richfield Police Department for questioning. Another person was transported to the hospital for medical treatment but will also be held for questioning.

Police say they are not looking for any additional suspects and there is no danger to the community.

Norman Holen is a neighbor and knows the family who lives in the home. Holen says the family is from Ethopia and moved to Richfield a few years ago.

"We've been friends since they moved here," Holen said. "Husband, wife, two children. Beautiful children, and a sister that lives downstairs."

Holen and his wife have had dinner with them and gone to two family weddings. They were shocked to wake up and see nearly a dozen squad cars and crime scene tape up around their home.

"I can't imagine it," Holen said. "It's just hard to imagine there would be anything wrong because they're so quiet and pleasant."

The incident remains under investigation.
