MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minnesota’s new statewide winter scavenger hunt is off to a quick start.

Explore Minnesota is showcasing 10 destinations throughout the state where people can enjoy some winter fun.They range from Lutsen and Grand Portage in the Northeast corner of the state to Pipestone National Monument in the Southwest corner.

The scavenger hunt just started Tuesday, and Explore Minnesota says three die-hard contestants hit all 10 spots in roughly 24 hours.

The first and second place winners were carpooling. The third winner was on his own.

There is $40,000 worth of prizes available, including $1,000 gift packs for the first four to hit all 10.
