Defending The Blue Line Hosts Fundraiser At Rice Park

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- It may be a little cold outside as winter arrived early this year, but this is Minnesota.

In the State of Hockey, what better way to spend the day than at Rice Park in downtown St. Paul. That's where the Wells Fargo Winter Skate folks are hosting a fundraiser for Defending the Blue Line, a local non-profit organization that helps children of military members participate in hockey.

Shane Hudella, the founder of Defending the Blue Line, started the non-profit back in 2009. The goal was to help out military families with the high costs of playing hockey.

Defending the Blue Line hosts "10 Pucks for 10 Bucks" on Saturdays at Rice Park in St. Paul. Those who come can shoot 10 pucks for $10, with all the proceeds going to help military families. Participants also walk away with $15 in coupons from Chipotle and Pei-Wei. There's also a grand prize $50 gift card from Gander Mountain.

The event is Saturday from 4:30 to 5 p.m.
