Shafer Man Dies In Freak Snowmobile Accident

SHAFER, Minn. (WCCO) – A 63-year-old Shafer man is dead after a snowmobile accident Saturday, according to the Chisago County Sheriff’s office.

The fatal accident happened late Saturday morning at a residence in Franconia Township.

According to a witness, Dennis Holt was moving a snowmobile that he was not familiar with, which had a left-handed throttle.

The vehicle accelerated rapidly, striking a car hauler trailer parked nearby.

A witness performed CPR on Holt before emergency crews arrived, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s office is investigating the accident.
