97-Year-Old Clay Co. Man Jumps From Moving Truck During Carjacking

DILWORTH, Minn. (WCCO) – A 97-year-old Clay County man survived a jump from a moving truck last weekend.

Johnie Beckerleg of Dilworth was waiting in his son’s pickup truck outside of a Walmart when a man jumped in and drove off with Beckerleg still inside.

Beckerleg opened his door and jumped out. He says he has “no idea” how he pulled it off. He normally uses a walker to get around.

He dislocated his shoulder during the carjacking.

Police later arrested a 32-year-old man, whose blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit.

He faces several felony charges.
