MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The first Twin Cities baby of 2014 was welcomed at about 12:19 a.m. Wednesday, according to officials at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids.

Lissa Claire and Shawn Leebens are the proud parents of the first baby to be born in 2014.

They welcomed a girl, 7 pounds, 13 ounces, early Wednesday morning as we were ringing in the new year. The girl, which had not been named yet, was 20.75 inches long.

Another Twin Cities couple welcomed a boy as the last baby of 2013 in the Twin Cities at United Hospital, and with it a nice tax deduction.

Laura and Hermes Del Rio had a baby boy at 12:57 p.m. Tuesday. They named him Liam Gabiriel, and he weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 inches long at birth.
