'Major Drug Dealer' Sentenced To 7 Years In Prison

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A "major drug dealer" in Oakdale has been sentenced to seven years in prison, the Washington County Attorney's Office announced.

On Thursday, Danielle Jae Brand, 26, was sentenced after being convicted of first-degree violation of controlled substance laws.

Authorities say on May 22, 2012, Woodbury Police stopped Brand in the car she was driving for various traffic violations. After acting suspicious and providing conflicting information about the car, a Washington County Sheriff's canine detected controlled substances in her car.

After a search warrant was executed, authorities discovered almost a full pound of methamphetamine in the car. Brand told police that items in the car belonged to her. She has a previous controlled substance conviction.

"This office congratulates the fine police work of the Woodbury Police Department and the Washington County Sheriff's Office in this case. My office is committed to prosecute drug dealers as vigorously as the law will allow. We feel we have accomplished that task here, and wish to send that message to other drug dealing scofflaws," County Attorney Pete Orput said.

Brand was sentenced by Washington County District Judge Ellen Maas and prosecuted by Assistant County Attorney Imran Ali.
