MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- As Gov. Mark Dayton's decision to mandate all public schools be closed for Monday, many parents may be left wondering how to keep their children busy this afternoon.

One potential, thrifty and, most importantly, indoor option was just announced at the Mall of America, where the Nickelodeon Universe amusement park will be offering free rides all day.

The decision was announced through Twitter:

Monday was the first blanket closure of all public schools due to frigid winter weather in 17 years. Minnesota's Education Commissioner Brenda Cassellius announced that Tuesday would be left to individual school districts whether they would remain closed or not.

As of early Monday afternoon, many of the state's largest districts had announced they would remain closed on Tuesday, including Minneapolis, St. Paul and Anoka-Hennepin. Rochester said their schools would open two hours late.
