New Local Blog Giving Moms Sassy Ideas

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A new local blog is hoping to connect moms and not just through talking about butt cream or breastfeeding.

And this blog is meant to be sassy. The founders are two working moms who wanted a resource where they could find everything from date night to the best blowouts in the Twin Cities.

Beth Zustiak and Suzanne Cartmill plan to bring lots of candor to the Twin Cities Moms Blog.

"We have a team of 14 local writers. Many of them are bloggers who have been established for a while that all have different perspectives," Zustiak said.

Photographers, DIY'ers, fashion experts, green moms, even a grandmother will contribute. And not just moms will benefit.

"I'm a mom myself, but I don't think it's my first title," Cartmill said. "I'm a woman first, then a wife, then a mom."

The blog wants to be an inside resource for all ladies, and maybe some dads too.

"I want it to be a place for a good date, a restaurant, a great deal or a fun boutique you have to go check out with your girlfriends," Cartmill said.

The site will also help promote events and businesses where moms can get offline and meet each other in person.

The concept started in Scottsdale, Ariz. and worked.

"It exploded so much, it turned into a national network," Zustiak said.

One of the first places to sign on as a partner was Spill the Wine in Minneapolis, a locally-run, mother-owned business.

These moms found getting out can make you better at home.

"It's good to get out and be who you were before you were a mom," Cartmill said. ""It refuels us, refreshes us and makes us feel normal."

The website will launch Jan. 15 and they will their launch party will be at Spill the Wine on Jan. 30. Everyone who goes gets a free glass of wine.
