MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities said one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Rice Lake, Wis., on Friday.

The Wisconsin State Patrol was called to the accident at about 2:15 p.m. Friday on Highway 48 one mile south of Mikana in Barron County. When authorities arrived to the scene, they learned two vehicles were headed eastbound on the highway. A Ford F-250 attempted to pass a Ford Explorer when the right rear of the F-250 hit the left front of the Explorer.

Both vehicles left the road and overturned. Authorities said the driver of the F-250 was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected and got pinned underneath the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two occupants of the Explorer were both wearing their seat belts and were not injured.

The victim has not yet been identified. The Barron County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol said the accident is still under investigation.
