MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Sheriff’s deputies in northeastern Minnesota are investigating after finding a 54-year-old woman early Tuesday morning lying dead in a driveway.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says officers found Julie Janiel, of Embarrass, shortly after 1:30 a.m. on the 4700 block of Waisanen Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities did not say the death appeared suspicious, but they are investigating the cause.

Earlier this week in Babbitt, which is about 20 miles east of Embarrass, 55-year-old Paul John Bulen of Mahtomedi was found unconscious on a road. He was pronounced dead Monday at Ely Hospital.

Authorities found that death suspicious and arrested 24-year-old Shawn Russel Doherty, who lived near where Bulen was found.

An autopsy showed that Bulen was strangled to death.
