MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The man who was killed after walking train tracks northwest of the Twin Cities metro Monday afternoon and being struck by a Northstar Line train has been identified.

According to the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office, 51-year-old Robert Borowick of Blaine, Minn. was walking just north of the intersection of 192nd Avenue and Zebulon Street in Big Lake Township when he was struck.

The gate arms at the intersection had been lowered prior to the incident, the sheriff’s office said.

The train stopped shortly after striking Borowick. Buses and other trains brought Northstar’s passengers to their destinations.

It was still not immediately clear what caused the fatal incident.
