MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – TCF Bank announced Wednesday that they will close eight branches located inside Cub Foods stores by the end of March.

According to a company spokesperson, the branches affected are located in Chanhassen, Elk River, Forest Lake, Hastings, Lakeville South, Mankato West, Northfield and Rogers.

Chanhassen, Elk River and Forest Lake will still have free-standing TCF locations.

TCF plans to consolidate a total of 46 locations in Minnesota and Illinois, with all but one being in-store branches.

The spokesperson says the closings are tied to the company’s emphasis on mobile and online banking, which have become increasingly popular with customers.

There will still be 49 Cub Foods branches in the metro area after the consolidation.
