MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A former Minnesota woman tried her hand at “Wheel of Fortune” Thursday night, with some fortunate results.

Katie Hoody used to live in Bemidji, but now lives in Texas. She ended up winning more than $55,000 on the show.

Hoody says she wouldn’t be rolling in the dough if it wasn’t for her 94-year-old friend, Marion Dessert.

The former next-door neighbors would watch “Wheel” every night, and Dessert realized Hoody was good at solving the show’s puzzles.

Hoody says she tried out just to give Dessert the thrill of seeing her spin and solve.

The two actually watched the episode together Thursday night in Bemidji, and celebrated with some “Wheel of Fortune” cakes.
