MN Man Arrested After Alleged Sioux Falls Carjacking

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — A man is in custody on several charges after an alleged carjacking in Sioux Falls.

Police say the 36-year-old man fled on foot from the scene of a vehicle crash about 8:40 p.m. Sunday. They say he eventually assaulted a man in a parking lot, stole the man’s car and then assaulted a woman who was still inside the car as he drove away.

Police say the suspect swerved at several police officers before crashing the vehicle a few blocks away. He fled again and hid in a residential garage but was apprehended by officers with police dogs.

The suspect’s last known address was Hills, Minn. He was arrested on numerous charges including aggravated assault, robbery, kidnapping, vehicle theft and driving under the influence.
