MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Burnsville’s Zach Smith loves to compete, and that’s why he was drawn to basketball.
“It started at a young age for me,” he said. “I remember playing in the YMCA leagues…it just kind of ran in my family, too. My grandpa was like [an] all-around athlete.”
Smith is described by his coach, Matt Eppen, as being “not the most talkative” but dependable and hardworking.
Smith says his play speaks for itself.
“I think I need the ball in my hands,” he said.
After coaching Smith for three years, Eppen says he’ll be sad when the point guard leaves.
“He’s a great teammate, kids like to play with him,” Eppen said. “He’s been a great kid to have around.”
