Unexpected Collapse Halts Metrodome Demolition

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Demolition of the Metrodome was put on hold after an unexpected collapse on Monday.

Officials say a beam on the top tier of the Dome fell while crews were working on the structure yesterday afternoon.

No one was hurt in the incident, but crews won't be able to continue the demolition until investigators figure out what happened.

Construction officials said work could possibly start back up later this week.

The entire edifice is expected to be gone by April.
